Golf Gifts in June

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

The height of golf season is early summer.  The anticipation to get onto the golf course after a long winter and spring is big.  Many golfers attend indoor driving ranges to make sure they keep their skills up.  It can be hard because of the differences of indoor and outdoor play, but it’s often worthwhile.  To get on the green and putt for a birdie can be exhilrating.  A long drive from the fairway, just missing the bunker.  With a golfer, sending a golf themed gift basket is appropriate any time of year.  If there birthday is in January, they’ll keep their tees or golf balls that were in the basket safe until ready for use.  The theme is perfect regardless of the time of year.  For the golf lover everywhere, a golf gift basket is a great gift idea.

Fruit Gift Baskets in the Summer

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

The warm weather can sometimes cause havoc for a beautiful fruit gift basket.  Unfortunately, fruit doesn’t like to stay in a sealed box and shipped across country.  Go figure!  In Canada, the best choice is to buy a fruit basket locally.  The shipping time is minimized and the gift can arrive as intended, in perfect condition!  If that choice isn’t an option (e.g. no good local company!), consider sending a gourmet gift basket with shelf stable product only.  It’ll arrive in perfect condition and can be consummed over weeks, possibly months.  The important thing to remember is that you always have choices!

Tomato - the dangerous fruit!

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

I visited the local burger joint yesterday and saw a notice posted regarding tomatoes being banned for now due to illnesses around the US.  Apparently there was a pattern to salmonella poisoning that could be traced to the tomatoes they consummed.  Hopefully the exact source of the problem is found soon.  It’s amazing how you don’t realize what part of your burger is essential, until it’s missing!

Baby in the Briar Patch…

Friday, June 6th, 2008

I took my daughter to a berry farm last weekend.  It’s amazing how their eyes light up at fruit outside, but not fruit on the kitchen countertop!  This farm was specifically for kids and babies who wanted to spend more time playing with the fruit rather than eating it.  There were blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and frank-n-berries…ok, this last one I made up (remember the cereal?).  The best time to go is when it’s overcast outside. If it’s too hot, that’s a distraction.  If it’s raining, you get wet.  Makes sense?

Baby Gift Baskets

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Baby Gift Baskets are one of the best gifts you can send because the recipients (parents) are already in a happy state of mind and your gift will just add to that joy.  There are many different varieties of baby gifts, whether for boys or girls or even if gender is unknown by the sender.  Soft pastel greens and yellows are one way to avoid the faux pas of sending a gift for the wrong gender.  You can also send a gift that has items that are somewhat collectible.  Beautiful plush  that can sit on a shelf in the baby’s room (although when the baby’s old enough, it’ll be coming down!).  Remember to make it personal to the recipient’s parents.
